Integrity

The integrity of the upright guides them but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them.  Proverbs 11:3

Do you have integrity?  Do you know what integrity means?  According to the dictionary, integrity means the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness; the state of being whole and undivided

Integrity is doing and saying what is right.  It’s our obedience to God’s law.  It’s owning up to our mistakes and sins.  It’s having the courage to stand alone for what is right.  It’s doing the right thing when no one is around.  When we are being honest with ourselves and others we are being upright, righteous.  It’s our integrity that guides us in living a godly life. Living a godly life is being in obedience to God.

Here are some different versions of this verse:

NLT: Honesty guides good people; dishonesty destroys treacherous people.

HCSB: The integrity of the upright guides them, but the perversity of the treacherous destroys them

Honest means free of deceit and untruthfulness; sincere.

For me, honest resonance for me of understanding integrity.

Being a person of integrity/honesty will keep me from being a treacherous person. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to be or be known as a treacherous person – a dishonest, crooked person.    I don’t want to be destroyed.  Being a person of integrity does not mean that we have to be perfect.  No one is perfect. It’ how we go about the situation.  Are we being authentic, honest, sincere, and truthful?

Search deep within yourself and see where you need to work in your life of integrity.

Again, Do you have integrity?

Do you struggle with integrity?

Do you let the Holy Spirit guide you in your integrity?

Dear Heavenly Father,

I pray that we will choose to have integrity.  That we will choose not to be a crooked, treacherous person.  I pray that our actions, words, and beliefs represent you well.  I pray that the Holy Spirit will show us where we need to work on our integrity.

In Jesus Name

Amen
