according to the foreknowledge of God the father, in the sanctification of the Spirit for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with His blood: 1 Peter 1:2
Peter made a strong declaration to the people on how God chose us. At one time, it was the Israelites as his chosen people. However, through Christ, all believers are chosen. Jews and Gentiles, all belong to God. Our salvation and security rest in the merciful choice of God.
We are chosen to be God’s people according to the foreknowledge of God. Since God is all knowing, he worked His plan to save people spiritually. He would save them through Christ Jesus dying on the cross. The church, which is His believers, is the object of His love and choosing us. We are redeemed, which means purchased and restored to the right relationship with God. Through Jesus sacrifice for our sins, we are prepared to serve his purposes.
The church of believers is only those who respond to Jesus and surrender their lives to him. They continue to be a part of the body of God’s chosen people, which means they are loyal to Christ and live for His purposes.
One other thing! Did you notice something about this verse? This verse mentions God the father, Jesus the Son, And God the Holy Spirit. The Trinity works together for salvation. The Father chose us before we chose him. Jesus Christ died for us while we are still sinners. The Holy Spirit brings us to the blessing and benefits of salvation and sets us apart for God’s service.
Are you living for Christ daily?
Are you doing what God has asked you to do for his purpose?
What do you think of the Trinity working together for our salvation?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you so much for having a wonderful plan of salvation. Thank you for the Trinity working together for our salvation. I thank you that we are set apart to live for you. God, I ask that you speak to each of our hearts. Lead us to your will for our lives. I pray that we will choose you each day and say no to sin and disobeying you.
In Jesus Name
Amen
