Remaining In God-His Words Remain In You

“But If you remain in me and my words remain in you, . . . John 15:7

Do words matter to you?  When people give you a compliment or a negative word, does it stay with you?  Well, when we study God’s word, the bible, His words will remain in us.  They take root and remain in us when we commit His word to memory when we sing His words, when we meditate on His words when we dig deeper to study His words when we hear His words through sermons, podcasts, and books.  His words remain in us when we uplift others with His words.  His word remains when we are in the act of obedience to the words of Jesus.

Jesus says that The source of His words comes from His Father.  “Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I speak to you I do not speak on My own. The Father who lives in Me does His works.” John 14:10.  Let’s read John 6:68-69, ‘Simon Peter answered, “Lord, who will we go to? You have the words of eternal life.  We have come to believe and know that You are the Holy One of God!”  What do the words of Jesus give to us? They give us eternal life.

How do we receive faith?  Read Romans 10:17.So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.”  Can I challenge you?  This week can you search and find some “red words” that Jesus spoke.  Write them down where you will see them often.  Find some that speak to your heart.  AS you put Jesus’ words into your heart, mind, and soul, your faith will begin to grow stronger.  When you meditate on Jesus’ words, you are settling your soul like taking a deep, long breath after the wind has been knocked out of you.  Jesus’ words recalibrate your thoughts and emotions when you have the trials of life at your feet.  His words remind you that you are not alone.  They remind us that we have a true shelter when we remain in Jesus.

John 14:26 says, ‘But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit—the Father will send Him in My name—will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.’  What does the Holy Spirit do according to this verse?  Do we need Him to do this for us?  The Holy Spirit will teach us everything we need to know and remind us of what we already know.  Yes, we do need the Holy Spirit to do this for us every day.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your words.  They are encouraging, uplifting, and loving.  I pray that we will allow the Holy Spirit to teach and reminds of all your words spoken to each of us.

In Jesus Name

Amen
