Rejoice When Suffering

Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that sufferings produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.  Romans 5:3-5

Who wants to rejoice in our sufferings? Most people complain and whine about their sufferings.  Have you ever rejoiced in your suffering?  Have you found the joy in our sufferings?

I don’t pray for sufferings, trials, etc.  However, I do stop and realize through that time God is teaching me something.  Our attitude can help with the sufferings.  If you remember that God is with us, helping us;  we can actually rejoice.  We will grow in our sufferings.  Our Character is being formed in these sufferings.  Sufferings helps us to deepen our trust in God.  You don’t want to get angry or bitter towards God in your sufferings.  Instead, seek him in the sufferings and let him mold you into who he wants you to be.  Through the process of suffering, we find hope in God’s ways and in his love.  We don’t have shame with hope.  Our hope is God’s everlasting love, grace, and mercy. Our hope is the Holy Spirit in us.

God never said it would be easy to follow him.  If fact, the Word says that we would suffer. In your sufferings, look to our Triune God, and watch him at work.  However, you have to be in prayer and Gods word, and you have to take the time to be still.

Dear Heavenly Father,

As we go through sufferings, or hard times, help us to rejoice in you.  Helps us to keep our focus on what you want out of the situation.  Let us be humble and see where our errors may be and repent.  You make all things beautiful in you time.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
