This is amazing how the Thessalonians follow Paul’s teaching about Jesus. They turned away from their idols and wholeheartedly serve God. They served the one true God. Every day they expected the return of their Lord. The return of Jesus is what we all anticipate. The word wait meant to wait for one whose coming is known or foreseen, with the added notion of patience and trust. We are putting our hope and trust into God’s that he will send his son to return to us and deliver us from the wrath to come. The Wrath of God, his anger, the implication of God’s punishment to those who refuse Him.
If we knew that our Lord was to return today, what would the state of our heart be? Don’t skim this question. Search deep for the answer. It is important to know and it’s urgent. We don’t know when Our Lord and Savior is going to return. We need to be ready. We need to turn away from the things in our lives that hinders us from our relationship with God.
What state is your heart in?
Are you ready for when Jesus returns?
Are you ready so you don’t meet the wrath that is to come?
Dear Heavenly Father,
How amazing is it that the Thessalonians could turn away from their idols. God I ask that each of us are urged to turn away from the idols in our live. Please reveal what the idols are in our lives, so we can turn away from them. I pray that we will choose to live our lives to serve you.
In Jesus Name
Amen
