God is so good! Jesus asked His Father to give us another Helper to be with us. As soon as He ascended to Heaven, God sent the Holy Spirit to be with us. The Holy Spirit does many things for us. HE is our helper. The greek word for helper is parakletos. This means literally, one called alongside to help. The Holy Spirit has many roles. He is counselor, strengthener, comforter, helper, adviser, advocate, intercessor, ally and friend.
“The helper will teach you everything and will cause you to remember all that I told you. This Helper is the Holy Spirit.” John 14:26
The Holy Spirit teaches us. He helps us to understand the word of God. He helps us to know how to live for Jesus. The Holy Spirit guides us. He guides us into all truth according to John 16:13. The Holy Spirit helps the disciples to remember everything that Jesus taught them. And Jesus taught a lot of things in those three years. I have a hard enough time remember the pastor’s sermon from Sunday to Sunday let alone everyday being taught something. However, God already new that we would need help remembering What Jesus taught. “So here you go my people whom I love, I will send a help to you.”
I have my own personal counselor that I can go to for free and ask how I should handle a situation. I can go to him because will I have this issue and that issue. He is my strengthener, through his power I am strong. I am grieving, and no one understands or has the time for me, the Holy Spirit is there comforting me. Advisor – What should I do with me life that pleases God? He reveals that to you. advocate – Oh man!! I messed up again God! The Holy Spirit is convicting us gently, and he goes to God fighting for us, He intercede on our behave. The Holy Spirit is our ally and our friend. When humans let us down, well because they are human and that will, maybe not intentionally, but all humans will let you down one way or anther, but not the Holy Spirit. He is the one that will be parakletos when everyone else is not there. The Holy Spirit helps us to know Jesus more. The more we know about Jesus, the easier it is to share about him to others.

Dear Heavenly Father,
I am so thankful that you sent the Holy Spirit to us. I am so thankful that he meets all these roles. I ask that the Holy Spirit guides each and every one of us. That we will depend on him first before humans.
