“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.”
Isaiah 9:2
Do you fear the darkness?
Have you read the book of Isaiah?
Here in this verse Isaiah is focusing on the hope of the coming light. He didn’t focus on the fear and anxiety of the darkness. In John 8:12, it is stated “I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.” How exciting that after years of darkness, the light of the world finally came!
Jesus was given some other names from Isaiah! Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, and Prince of Peace. Aren’t those comforting names? I find them all comforting and hopeful! I can relate to each name to what God is to me!
Do you line to read the genealogy in the Bible? Sometimes I do and others times I am like it just a list of names! What is interesting about reading Jesus family line is it shows his family line was not perfect! Yet God still used them to bring Jesus into the world!
Rahab was a prostitute! Say What!!!! Really?!?! And what about King David!! He got a married woman pregnant and had her husband killed! He used manipulation to make it happen!!! My goodness this is not the perfect family! Yet God used them for Jesus lineage. I find this comforting that God used imperfect people to fulfill his plans and his purpose!
Do you realize that God’s plan and purpose is still in motion today and you are apart of it? You don’t have to be perfect! We just have to be willing and obedient to God to share the light of hope!
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for bringing your light into our world! Thank you for keeping your promises! God I pray that we will be strong and brave and share your light with others.
In Jesus Name
Amen
