The arrival! In Luke 2, Jesus arrives. How exciting is this? The Savior was born. He was born in a humbling way. Jesus was born in the barn in Jerusalem. He was wrapped in cloths and placed in a manger where animals ate their food. Not a place you would think a king should be born or even laid to sleep!
Joseph and Mary knew this baby boy was special. Did they really comprehend how special or what the future held? Mary was honored to be chosen to mother, the Messiah. However, did she ever doubt herself to be able to mother Him? Did she put expectations on herself as we women do? Did she trust God to provide for the coming journey?
As we ponder on the Christmas story and God’s plan for salvation, the burdens of the holiday season are placed in perspective. As God took care of Mary and provided for Jesus’ birth, we will realize that God also takes care of us. He will help us. If he doesn’t forget one sparrow, God will not forget you or me. The burdens of this world will creep in and grab hold of us. In this kind of moment, we can forget or lose sight of how God takes care of us. He knows our stresses, our burdens, and our every need.
As we know about the name Immanuel- God with us. We need to remember that in everything, God is there with us. He is providing all that we need at that moment. We only need to trust Him.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the arrival of our Messiah, your son Jesus. Thank you for caring for all of your creations. I pray that when life getting dark, confusing, scary, or stressful, we will remember that you are with us and providing for us.
In Jesus Name
Amen
