Advent: Day Thirteen

For unto us, a child is born, to us, a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.  And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Isaiah 9:6

Immanuel: God with us.  Have you ever gone through a time of excitement?  Have you ever had to go through a crisis?  Have you ever heard God speak to you during either one of these moments?

God is a great God.  He is a gentle, kind, loving God.  When He speaks to us, He also walks with us.  He doesn’t leave us to walk through hard things.  He doesn’t leave us to walk through the exciting moments of our lives.  He is right there with us during all these moments.  He gives us peace and joy.  We can hang onto His words when we go through these moments.  His strength sustains us.  His love casts out all fear.

When Jesus was born, God was direct with the people.  When His purpose on earth was done, He still left us with that same promise.  His promise is in His name Immanuel – God with us.  Does it seem to you that heaven is far away or even that God is far away from us?

This is a false reality that we fall trap to.  God isn’t far from us.  He is walking with us daily throughout the day.  He doesn’t leave us; if anything, we leave him.

Christmas is coming. We anticipate it coming. There is excitement for Christmas coming. This Christmas, this hold onto God’s promise.  Jesus arrivals hold a promise to us.  This promise of God himself came to dwell with us.  Isn’t God amazing?  Remember that the next time you have an exciting moment in your life – God is with you!!  Remember that the next time you have a crisis – God is with you!!

Today, salvation is here.  Jesus came to be with us, died on the cross for our sins.  Take today for consideration to accept Christ as your savior.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for being with us.  Thank you for coming to earth to live with us.  I am so grateful that you are always with us to walk through life’s journey.

In Jesus Name

Amen
