Attentive To The Prayer

Please, Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant and to that of your servants who delight to revere your name.  Nehemiah 1:11

Don’t you just love God’s word.  I am so thankful for His Word.  I am thankful that through His Word he speaks to us!  Or at least its one way of hearing him.    I really enjoyed studying the old testament.  In fact, when I got the last book of the Old Testament, I grieved.  I know you are probably saying, ‘what???’  Not that since I started the new testament have I not opened the old testament.  I have read books still and went beck to cross reference verese.  It was that I was just moving forward which is good.  I was then in a place where I need to study about Jesus and the Holy Spirit and realized the love, mercy, and grace that God offers to us even more so through His son Jesus.  I learn a lot about God and the fear of the Lord in the New Testament, yet learned a lot about my hope and safety in God.  That God is with us and protects us.  I don’t know if we humans really grasp the fear the Lord, then again I don’t know if the old testament really took it serious enough either, when you think about what they did and how they forgot God and worshipped other gods.  Then he got disciplined.  Even we christians do the same thing.  We can pretend we don’t but we do.

This is where I love this verse.  I am thankful that Nehemiah could pray to God on behalf other the other Jews and himself.  That is what he is doing in this verse.  It is when King Artaxerxers was king of Persia.  So also think aobu the book of Esther.  Nehemiah is asking for God’s favor.  When we desire to recieve anything form other people, we need to go to pray before Gdo and aks for his wisdom.  He then can give us his wisdom and inspire the hearts of others including powerful leaders, to do God’s purpose.

Yes, Esther and Nehemiah both talk about God’s purposes.  I love how God weaves His Word together.  I am so thankful that he inspired his people to  write his words down. I am thankful he hears our prayers and listens to us.

Do you prayer to God for His wisdom?

Dear Heavenly father,

I thank you for your word.  I am thankful that it teaches us about you and how we can have a relationship with you.  I pray that we will come to you in prayer on behalf of others and ourselves.

In Jesus Name

Amen
