    Love Livingly

“When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.  I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy.  Yes, your joy will overflow! ‘This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.” John 15:10-12           Living a life of obedience, love, joy, and more love brings fullness to one’s life.  Read Luke 1:26-56.  What are expressions of obedience, trust, love, and joy? Do you see from this passage of scripture? We have a hard time telling the difference between the words…

    Love Each Other

This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.  John 15:10-12             Do you know that Jesus loves you?  He does, and with that love, we are to love others.  In John chapter 15, we see a progression of this love.  The father loves the Son.  The Son remains in the Father’s love through obedience.  The Son loves us in the same way the Father loves him.  We remain in Son’s love through obedience.  We love each other in the same way the Son loves us.  By loving each other, we are obeying the specific commandment of Jesus; thus,…

Let’s look at the following verses:  John 4:31-34, Philippians 2:5-11, and Hebrews 12:2.  What can we learn from these verses about the connection between obedience and joy from the life of…

    Remain In His Love

“just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.”  John 15:10-12           How much do you trust God?   Do you ever feel like you are stepping off the ledge when He asks you to do something that is not you? Let’s read Hebrews 4:14-16 and 5: 4-9.  How does Jesus help us hold firm to what we believe?  What did Jesus face?  What difference might it make to consider Jesus facing a struggle with similar roots?  What is the invitation given in Hebrews 4:16?  What is offered after the invitation?  In chapter 5:4-9, how does this show the humility of Jesus and His…

    Obey My Commandments

When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, . . .  John 15:10-12           How do you feel about being obedient to God and what He asks of you?  Do you clench your jaw a little or a lot??  Well, let’s dive in a little about this today! When Jesus said, obey my commandments, you remain in my love, He wasn’t/ isn’t putting us behind jail bars.  He was putting up guardrails to keep us from going off the cliff!  Keeping us from falling away from His love.  Obedience to Jesus keeps us in the staying power.  It keeps us on the road to…

Amen.] Let’s take some time and focus on prayer.  Look up these verses and glean from them. Prayer!  It’s a conversation with God.  Do you struggle with praying?  Is it intimidating to you to pray to God?  Is there a right way to…

    Reflection Day

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10 Today is Reflection Day!  I love reflection day.  It’s a time for me to go back and reflect on what God has spoken to me about.  It gives me time to pray and seek God about what he wants to change in my life.  It gives me time to make a game plan of putting action to what God is telling me and asking of me.  Reflection Day gives me a slower pace to grasp what God is telling me.  It gives me more time to…

    Remain In My Love

“But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples.  This brings great glory to my father.  I have loved you even as the Father has loved me.  Remain in my love.  John 15:7-9           Do you remain in Jesus’ love?  Do you struggle to remain in His love? We don’t always see the threats to our spiritual health, which doesn’t mean that they aren’t real and shouldn’t be taken seriously.  First, Peter 5:8 says, “Stay alert! Watch out for your great…

    My True Disciples

When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples.  This brings great glory to my Father.  John 15:7-9 Jesus is Truth and the True Vine.  God’s word is true and trustworthy.  In John 15:8, we learn that God makes true disciples yield much fruit.  As a result, God gets the glory.  True disciples are the kind of follower-abiders who make a difference and produce hearty, lasting fruit.  However, what about the hypocrisy that has caused walls to be built up against Christ. We need to live our lives in authenticity.  We need to be as real about who we are in Christ behind closed doors as much as we…
