    Reflection Day

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10 Today is Reflection Day!  I love reflection day.  It’s a time for me to go back and reflect on what God has spoken to me about.  It gives me time to pray and seek God about what he wants to change in my life.  It gives me time to make a game plan of putting action to what God is telling me and asking of me.  Reflection Day gives me a slower pace to grasp what God is telling me.  It gives me more time to…

    Mary And Martha: Part 5

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, yes and forever.”  Hebrews 13:8 What will it take for you to follow God? The week of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem to the cross and Resurrection, Mary, Martha, and Larazus were probably there that week.  They were there on the day of His crucifixion.  They were also there on His resurrection appearance over the next forty days. Mary, Martha, and Lazarus were also part of the 120 who gathered for prayer for ten days.  On the day of Pentecost, they were, also, part of that wondrous outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  They were apart of the early church. Are you listening…

    Mary and Martha: Part 4

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever.”  Hebrews 13:8 What an exciting story of three siblings and how they follow after Jesus.  Yet, there is so much more to come.  Let’s begin our time together reading John 12: 1-2 and Mark 14:3.  What happened after they arrived in Bethany?  Now let’s read John 12:3, Matthew 26:7, and Mark 14:3.  What did Mary do?  What are the unique details about Mary that each writer gave about her? Oh, the love she has for Jesus?  It really is genuine.  It is wholeheartedly.  For one, I save and treasure anything I have that is expensive.  Mary poured the alabaster…

    Mary and Martha: Part 3

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever.”  Hebrews 13:8 After waiting for two days, Jesus went to Mary, Martha, and Lazarus.  Jesus was in oneness with God, the father.  This is what he wanted for his disciples, Mary, Martha, Lazarus, and all followers.  Let’s read John 11:9-10.  Jesus began to speak to them about why He did what He did.  Jesus knew that as long as they were doing the will of the Father, they were protected. Jesus knew that Lazarus had died.  He also knew it was the will of the Father to awaken him in due time.  Read John 11:11-16.  “He said this, and…

    Mary And Martha: Part 2

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever.”  Hebrews 13:8 Oh, Mary and Martha! Two Sisters and a brother!  A brother who became ill while Jesus was ministering across the Jordan.  How did these two sisters handle this?  Read John 11: 1-6.  Why did they do this?  What did they expect, in your opinion? Mary and Martha had seen Jesus’s works of healing; they believed Jesus could do it again.  Martha and Mary knew that Jesus loved them, and they knew Jesus had their most immeasurable interest at heart.  They expected Jesus to come immediately.  However, what did Jesus do?  Jesus said that the sickness was not…

    Mary and Martha: Part 1

“If any man is thirsty, let Him come to Me and drink.  He who believes in Me as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.'”  John 7:37-38 Mary and Martha, two sisters who are very different from one another.  They are two disciples.  These two ladies show us much about pure worship and the kind of worship Jesus takes delight in.  Let’s read John 10: 38-39.  This is where we are introduced to Mary and Martha.  What are your thoughts about Mary?  What are your thoughts about Martha?  How does Mary act toward Jesus? She was so hungry to learn more about Jesus.  She…

    Prayer Time

Our Father in heaven, Your name be honored as holy. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.] Let’s take some time and focus on prayer.  Look up these verses and glean from them.  2 Samuel 21:14, 24:25; 1 Kings 8:22, 8:28-29 Prayer!  It’s a conversation with God.  Do you struggle with praying?  Is it intimidating to you to pray…

    The Virtuous Woman

“Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.”  Proverbs 31:30 The first place that the bible uses the phrase “virtuous woman” is in Ruth.  Boaz described Ruth’s reputation this way.  It is used again in Proverbs by Solomon.  When were you first introduced to the woman of Proverbs 31? How did it make you feel?  Do you compare yourself to her, Ladies? Let’s read Proverbs 1: 2-4.  What is the purpose of the book of Proverbs? How do we access what it has to offer? It is to give us the knowledge to have wisdom.  It gives us instructions.  With…

    Esther: Part Two

“Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed” Romans 10:11 Throughout history, people have been trying to wipe out the Jews.  Here comes Haman wanting and plotting to destroy the Jews.  Let’s read chapter 4 of Esther.  How did Mordecai and the rest of the Jews respond once they received word of Haman’s evil decree?  He tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and ashes.  This is the way they mourned. When Esther heard about Mordecai, she sent word to him.  Mordecai sent a copy of the king’s edict.  Mordecai asked Esther to go to the king and ask for mercy for her people.  Why did Mordecai think Esther needed…
