Do you have a loving parent?
Have you rejected your loving parent?
In verse 2, this is a picture of a loving parent. A father supporting his child who is taking his/her first steps and reaching with outstretched arms as the child is moving forward. It is hard to think that this child would grow up to reject and abandon the father. Yet, this is what Israel did to God. God loved and cared for His people with love and kindness.
God is a father who guided his children and a doctor who healed them. They drifted away from God. They had forgotten what God has done for them.
Have you drifted from God? Have you forgotten what God has done for you?
We must never forget the love of God and what he has done for us. We must work hard at our relationship with God.
Now in verse 8, it reveals God’s deep love and compassion for sinners. He grieves over those who are lost spiritually. His love shows his love as a father. He doesn’t want to give up on us. He grieves that he will have to punish those who stray away from him. God has a holy love that He cannot tolerate wickedness. Therefore, he must pass judgment.
Search deep into yourself. Are you rebelling against God? Turn away from that choice. God wants you to be with him. It grieves him deeply like a father grieves a child when the child rebels
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your deep love and compassion towards all humans. I pray that all will see how deep your love is for us. I pray for those of us that follow you that we will not stray away and rebel against you.
In Jesus Name
Amen
