Repentance – the greek word metanoeo means to turn around, to make a complete change. This change is to turn away from evil (sin) and turn toward God through faith in Jesus Christ our Savior. It’s changing our thoughts about God. Our attitude needs to also change towards God. We ned to daily search ourselves for sin and ask for forgives. Repentance means changing the leadership in our lives. Letting God have total leadership in our life. we cannot serve satan anymore. Before salvation we serve Satan and self whether we realized that or not. When we ask for forgiveness and repent of our sin, God becomes our leader. We now serve God and his word. John the Baptist went around preaching repentance, immersing people in water. This is not the way salvation happens. Remember you believe that Christ died for your sins. We ask him for forgiveness. Water baptism is an act to symbolize your change of life for Christ. It’s a sign of identifying with Christ in his death, burial (immersion) and resurrection (rising up to a new life in Christ).
