The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them, The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them.” Numbers 6: 22-27
What a blessing from God to His chosen people! Have you ever had a blessing over you?
God shows his gracious response to his people if they maintained purity in the congregation. To bless means that God’s presence, activity, and love are brought into a person’s life and environment. The blessing was set before God’s faithful servants under the conditions he had established. This blessing was set before God’s faithful servants under the conditions he had established.
The priestly blessing consists of three parts. The first part is the giving of God’s blessing and his protection from evil forces and all that was harmful to one’s welfare in life. The second is the Lord’s face shined upon them. The third is His favor, goodwill, and grace toward His people, which means His anger was turned away from them. Grace is God’s mercy, love and saving power toward His children. When God turns his face toward the Israelites, it shows he is caring towards them and is giving them a heartfelt love.
What God is giving to His people is His peace. Being at peace means being complete because God supplies all that is necessary to give life its fullness. This includes hope for the future. When we don’t have the peace of God, we are not in harmony.
In this moment in time, we can have God’s peace. We do not need to be stressed, or scared. We need to trust God and have His peace. He will meet our needs. In the midst of the uncertainty of this life, he is there with us. Have no fear – But have His peace.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you that you know the future. Thank you that we can lean into your strength. I pray for those who are sick that in your will they be healed. I pray for protection for every person in this world. I pray for healing of us all in whatever areas when need the healing. Father, please give us your peace.
