    Things to Hope For

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Faith is trusting God in all things.  It does not base its hope on the visible circumstances but on confidence in spiritual realities.  The same things that are the object of our hope are the object of our faith.  We can put our hope in God even when we don’t physically see him.  We have hope in God’s promises.  We can lean on God.  Since we have hope, we have the confidence in faith. The unseen things of hope become rare and real. Our hope in God is the faith we have that…

    Love Of God

This is how we have come to know love: He laid down His life for us.  We should also lay down our lives for our brothers.  If anyone has this world’s goods and sees his brother in need but closes his eyes to his need – how can God’s love reside in him?  Little children, we must not love with word or speech, but with truth and action. This is how we will know we belong to the truth and will convince our conscience in his presence, …  1 John 3:16-19 How did your grandparents or parents show their love for one another?  I was lucky to have grandparents and…

    God’s Grace

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short fo the glory of God. I have sinned.  I still sin.  You sin.  The person next door sins.  Your best friend’s sins.  whether we are nonbelievers still living in sin, new believers trying so hard to figure out this new way of life, or a mature, seasoned Christian still falling here and there.  Bottom line we all sinned.  And the sad point is we fall short of God’s glory. What is the Glory of God? Is it important? According to the dictionary – glory means high renown or honor won by notable achievements magnificent  or great beauty take great pride or…

Love the Lord with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.  Mark 12:30 Loving God with your whole heart means being completely devoted to God with your entire being, with all that one has.  Loving God with your whole heart means He is the source and object of your greatest desires and passions.   Center the core of your heart on Jesus.  This means that you are completely faithful.  Loving God this way means a willingness to do anything for him. Loving God with all your soul deals with our deepest longings, emotions, and convictions.  The soul is your…

    Reflection Day

Today is Reflection Day!  I love reflection day.  It’s a time for me to go back and reflect on what God has spoken to me about.  It gives me time to pray and seek God about what he wants to speak to change in my life.  It gives me time to make a game plan of putting action to what God is telling me and asking of me.  Reflection Day gives me a slower pace to grasp what God is telling me.  It gives me more time to listen to His voice. Make the most of this time!  Go get your journals, pens, and bible and spend time with…

    Victory

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.  May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.  Romans 16:20 Read Romans 16:  17-27 Do you like to win at games?  I am not a game player.  As a little child, I hated the games that kicked player’s pieces off the game board, for example, the game Sorry.  It broke my heart to send the little item back to their starting place called home.  It was so bad for me that when we got together for family holidays and we would bring out the games, I had to ask if it was a game where I kicked…

    Our Spritual Friends: Part Two

As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.  Proverbs 27:17 Yesterday, you made a list of friends compared to Paul’s friends.  Did you find any similar friends in your life?  Did you take the time to write them an encouraging letter to them?  This should have pointed out how grateful you are to have these people in your life, or it should reveal a lack of godly friends and mentors are in your life.  Is this the first time ready this passage or have you read it numerous times?  This passage here should show you how valuable relationships are in our lives. Are you being intentional in investing in…

    Our Spiritual Friends: Part One

As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.  Proverbs 27:17 Paul loved his friends.  In his day, he had to write letters.  For us today, we have social media and smartphones to easily stay in contact with each other.  There is something special about handwriting letters and mailing them off in the mail.  I think I like the privacy of letters.  No worries about emails, or text or message apps getting hacked.  A few years ago, my husband and I started writing letters to each other.  I would mail my letters to his workplace and he would mail his letters to me from his workplace to our home…

    Plans And Prayers

A man’s heart plans his way,  But the Lord directs his steps.  Proverbs 16:9 Are you a planner or wing it kinds of person?  I am a planner.  I love planners.  I love everything to be scheduled.  It is very hard for me to wing things, to be carefree.  Read Romans 15: 23-33.  How many times have you made plans, only for the Lord to change them, to direct your steps in a different way? This has happened to me many times.  Boy, am I glad He led the way.  As a teenager, I made plans to get married at the age of 21-22.  God had other plans and I…

    Confidence Through God

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.  May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.  Romans 16:20 How is your confidence?  Is it strong or weak?  Can I be honest, I don’t think I always have strong confidence.  Especially when I am leaning into myself and not God.  In fact, recently, I had low confidence in whether or not I was a good parent, all due to I could not afford things for them.  Thank goodness the doctor was very understanding and reaffirmed to me that I am still a good parent and not to let this little thing bring me down.  Is there…
