Passion Week: Devotions – Resurrection Sunday

The Empty Tomb Matthew 28:1-8; Mark 16:1-8; Luke 24: 1-12; John 20: 1-10 The bodies would not be able to remain on the cross on the Sabbath.  The Jews asked Pilot to break their legs, they did to the others.  Jesus legs they did not because he was already dead.  One of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear and at once there came out blood and water.  Scripture says that his bones won’t be broken but his body would be pierced.  Scripture was fulfilled yet again. Joseph from Arimathea, also a disciple of Jesus asked the guard for Jesus body.  Joseph wrapped him in clean linens. and laid…

Passion Week: Devotion – Jesus’ Crucifixion and Death

Friday Matthew 27:57-66; Mark 15:42-47; Luke 23:50-56; John 19:31-42 and Isaiah 52 Please read the passages above. Isaiah 52:14 – As many were astonished at you –  his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance, ands form beyond that of the children of mankind The prophet Isaiah spoke this to the people.  We know that he was beaten, but do we comprehend how badly he was beaten and tortured?  I have a hard time imagining him so beaten. Marred means disfigure applies to external injury of a more permanent and serious kind: A birthmark disfigured one side of his face.  Deform suggests that something has been distorted or internally injured so severely change its normal…

High Priestly Prayer and Praying at Gethsemane John 17: 1-26; Matthew 26: 36-46; Mark 14:32-42; Luke 22: 40-46 This is Jesus final prayer to God.  Jesus wants us to know and to show us His deepest desire to pray to our Heavenly Father. This prayer shows us as ministry leaders, pastors, parents, friends how to pray for others.  We should pray over these subject matters, as Jesus did:  that they may know the Lord intimately, that God with protect them, and they will constantly have the full joy of the Lord serving him, that they live by God’s standards of purity and truth in thoughts, actions, and character, be unified…

Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went to the chief priests in order to betray him to them,  And when they heard it, they were glad and promised to give him money.  And he sought an opportunity  to betray him. The Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was of the number…

    Passover Supper/Holy Communion

Luke 22:7-23 Matthew 26: 17-29 Mark 14: 12-25 John 13: 1-38 This is  the first day of the feast of unleavened bread.  The disciples made ready the passover.  They prepared this meal as they did every year.  John and Peter prepared it. The hour came and they ate.  Jesus wanted to eat with his disciples  before he suffered.  This last supper on earth, was the beginning of us doing communion.  For one, we do this because he told us too.  We do communion as a remembrance of Jesus (1 Corinthians 11:24). In remembrance, we observe all Jesus did for us in his life, death, and resurrection.  He took the place…
