Christ’s Love Compels Us

For the love of Christ compels us, since we have reached this conclusion: If One died for all, then all died. And he died for all so that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for the one who died for them and was raised.   From now on, then, we do not know anyone from a worldly perspective. Even if we have known Christ from a worldly perspective, yet now we no longer know him in this way.  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!  Everything is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.  2 Corinthians 5: 14-18

Do you have anything in your life that compels you?

How would you define compel?  Compel means force or oblige (someone) to do something.

In these verses, it is talking about how we should be compelled to live anew in the fact that Christ died sacrificially for us.  Do you know who you are in Christ?  You are a new creation.

Read 2 Corinthian 5:14-21.  These verses speak about who we are in Christ.

Before Christ’s death,  a curtain in the temple separated the holy of holies, where the presence of God resided from the rest of the temple.  The high priest was the only one who could enter the holy of holies.  When the curtain was torn at the moment Christ died, this signified that we have direct access to God the Father through Christ.

If we accept God’s gift of salvation, then there is nothing that can separate us from His love.  His love for us is unconditional and everlasting.  This should compel us to obey our calling.  Our calling is to be ambassadors for Christ.  We are called to go and make disciples.  We need to be ready to share His truth with others.

What compels you?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your great love.  I pray that you will show us where in our lives we need to compel your plan and purpose.  I pray that we will disciple others for your glory.

In Jesus Name

Amen
