Citizenship Is In Heavn

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it, we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.   Philippians 3:20

Heaven!  I love learning about heaven.  It’s our home.  The earth is no longer our home.  Yes, a temporary home until Jesus returns or we go to heaven.  When we choose to live for Christ, we are no longer just citizens on earth but we have new citizenship in heaven.  We have become aliens and strangers in this world.   In John 17:16, it says: ” They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.”  We are on a pilgrim journey while we are on this earth.  Each day we live we are getting closer to our home in heaven.  Heaven is our destination.  In relation to our life’s journey, we have values and direction.   We should know or at least start praying to know what our direction and values are.  Our lives are guided by God’s standards and our rights and inheritance are reserved in heaven.

When we are faithful God, our prayers reach heaven.  Our hope is directed there.  Some of us even have family and friends that are already in heaven.  I find that comforting when losing a loved one.  I still miss them and wish I could still have them around, but I know they are in a better place.  We will soon be together again.

The closer we grow towards our Triune God, the more we will long for our homeland.  I know I sure do. Jesus is there right now preparing a place for you and for me.  How exciting is that!!  I gitty when I think about it.  Jesus promised to return and take us to heaven.  We can believe and trust him on this.

Do you ever think about heaven?

Do you anticipate going home to Heaven?

Are you a citizen of Heaven?

If you are, are you living the way you should for God?

If you are not, would you like to be a citizen?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for having Jesus prepare a place in heaven for us.  I can’t wait to be there in heaven with you.  I pray that the Holy Spirit will guide and direct us while we are here on earth.  I pray that we will live for you daily.  I pray that we will choose daily to obey your word.

In Jesus Name

Amen
