So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Romans 6:11
If you are a true follower of Christ, you are dead to sin. This is a reflection in several areas of your Christian experience. In God’s view, you are dead to sin. According to verses five through 10, God considers us dead to sin with Christ on the cross. Also to be raised up to a new life and his resurrection.
When you excepted Christ in your life, you died to sin. You’re spiritually reborn it by the power of the Holy Spirit. As a result, you have been given Christ power to resist Satan, to put to death the deeds of the body and to live a life in obedience to God.
In order to experience ongoing victory over sin, you must consider yourself dead to sin, not only principles but in practice. What does it mean to be dead to sin? That is not active or responsive. So being dead to sin mean Dead to sin is not influencing or tempting you that once caused you a sin. It has no control over you anymore when you are developing spiritual resistance it requires a deliberate and willful choice not to feed or exercise your sinful nature. You refuse to carelessly expose yourself to that sin. You stay away from these activities and areas of life that help to you.
Then you spend time studying God’s word, prayer, Christian friendships, worship, and acts of service. You practice what you’ve learned. This build your strength to resist sin and temptation. Dying to sin means refusing to sin. It is refusing to let that life of sin have its way in your life. It’s refusing to sin, so you can live a life that is pleasing to God.
What does it mean to you to be dead to sin?
are you strengthen yourself against sin and temptation?
