Developing a God Memory

Then they believed his promises and sang his praise.  But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his counsel.  Psalm 106:12-13

Do you use stones to remember what God has done for you?

Read Joshua 4:4-7.  What did Joshua ask each leader to do?  Why? It is to have an item that will help us remember what needs to be remembered.  What were these stones to be a sign to the Israelites forever?  Isn’t this what we have been doing this past week with answering the questions of our past?

Our goals for our commitment to God should be that the call of the willing to our personal promised land to walk by faith and live in victory.  Read First Corinthians 2:9 and Ephesians 1:18.  What do these verses speak to you about?

When we live for Jesus, we have a part in His story.  We are leaving behind our part in the story for the future children of God.  We are called to bear the fruit of spiritual offspring.

Read Psalm 106.  Write out a rough outline of this chapter.  Are there any keywords that stick out to you? Write them down.  Look up the meaning of these words.  See what God is saying to you. What happened to the Israelites after they forgot God’s mighty acts and kindness on their behalf?

We are going to continue with the second fifth of our life.  Are there any pivotal events, trauma, or life markers that occurred during this time frame of your life?

Have you seen any Godmoment among those memories?  Write down as many details from your memories.  Who are the people who had the most profound spiritual impact on you during this period of your life?  What made them this profound influencer? Who demonstrated the character of Christ to you? How?

Did you attend church during this time? What was the level of its impact and your involvement? How would you characterize your relationship with or view of God during this time in your life? What is the most powerful life lesson God taught you during this period of your life?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for having ways that we will not forget the mighty and great things you do for us.

In Jesus Name

Amen
