Different Kinds of People

The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because  they are spiritually  discerned.  The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one.  “For who has understand the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him.” But we have the mind of Christ.  1 Corinthians 2:14-16

There are three groups of people – believers, those who believe and follow Jesus Christ and non believers – those who do not believe or follow Christ, but follow their own ways, and the group that say the believe and follow Jesus Christ, yet do what their flesh wants to do and not be obedient to Christ’s ways.

The unbelievers who do not submit to God are still controlled by natural instincts.  This side resists, opposes, and defies God.  This person does not have the Holy Spirit living in them.  As a result, they are still slaves to their sin, their own desires.

Believers that have totally submitted to God is one who has been spiritually renewed and transformed through Christ.  They have a personal relationship with Christ.  They are spiritually minded and understand the truth about what God has given.  God made the Holy Spirit available to them.  He also gives them His wisdom.  They are then able to resist the ungodly and destructive desires.  They can overcome those sinful temptations.

Within the Christian community we have believers that have totally submitted to God and those who have not totally submitted to God.  Some christians still behave in a worldly or unspiritual manner.  Instead of fighting to be obedient to God, they give into their sinful behaviors.  Even though they are not consistently in disobedience, they are in the process of compromising  with the world’s beliefs and behaviors and their own sinful nature.  These people are die the devil an opportunity  to gain influence  in areas of their lives.  Even though they desire to be a part of God’s people.

We as Christians have to be careful of the condition of being a worldly Christian, the dangers of it, and the warnings of  the worldly christians.  We have to be growing in the Lord daily.  We have to be careful of the danger  of being influenced of abandoning God and be warned of losing our faith if we are unwilling to turn from all that displeases God.

If we are to have the mind of Christ it means being able to understand His will. His will is His desires and plans  based on His character and purposes.  We need to evaluate the things from God’s perspective, his values, and loving what he loves.  We need to understand His Holiness.  Having the mindset of Christ means  having an attitude of humility, servanthood, and selflessness that puts the needs of others first.

What kind of Christian do you want to be?

Do you have the mindset of Christ?

Dear Heavenly Father

I thank you that we get to choose you or not.  I pray that everyone’s heart will want to choose you.  I pray that we will have the mindset of Christ and be imitators of Christ.

In Jesus Name

Amen
