“The sacrifice of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, you will not despise”. Psalm 51:17
Why does God revive His people? Who intitiates revival – God or you?
Let’s start by reading some scripture in the book of Proverbs. Go to Proverbs 16:18, 29:23; then go to Obadiah 3, Matthew 23:12, and James 4:6. IF you need to, go ahead and read the scriptures around these verses to get it into context.
What is God’s view of pride? What are the consequences of having a prideful (proud) heart? When does revival come into a person’s life? It comes when we are willing to get rid of pride that is in our life. We need to humble ourselves before God and repent. Humility is a major step in revival with God. How does pride hinder our relationship with God?
How are some ways that pride is manifested in our lives? How does it affect our relationship with others?
Let’s read 1 Peter 5:5-7.
Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
What does it mean to “be clothed with humility” to one another?
What would the world around you look like if you were clothed in humililty? How would our homes, workplace, church, neighborhood be different?
How does God oppose the proud?
How does God respond to humility?
Isaiah has an encounter of who God truly is (Isaiah 6), How can you come to know who God truly is?
What has God done to convict you of sin? How did you respond to him?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you God for loving each of us. I pray that we will let go of all pride and stay humbled before you. I pray that we will have a desire to see who you truly are and acknowledge our sin and repent.
In Jesus Name
Amen
