Do you lack forgiveness? Do you desire to forgive others? Make a list of people that you have not forgiven completely. On this paper write at the top – Person’s name, their offense, and My response. Now confess to God, then to the offender of any wrong response you may have had. Do not blame them for your actions or responses. Also, remember that God doesn’t hold us responsible for the wrongs others have done to us. He only holds us responsible for our words and actions towards others. As Christ has forgiven you, forgive the offender. The emotional healing may take longer, but the actual forgiveness can be extended at the moment. You do not want to wait until you are emotionally healed. Choose to forgive and let God start the healing process in you. When we don’t forgive, it actually makes us the prisoner then the offender. Next, ask God to help you to bridge the relationship, you do this with love. Only do this if it is possible and appropriate. Reread Luke 6:27-31 and Romans 12:17-21 and put this into action. Make a list of ways that you can shower them with love. Pray about it God will show you.
so that, on the contrary, you ought rather forgive and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one be swallowed up with too much sorrow. Therefore I urge you to reaffirm your love to him. 2 Corinthians 2:7-8. When the offender is repentant, assure the person of God’s love and your love and comfort.
For to this end I also wrote, that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things. Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive. For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of Christ, lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices. 2 Corinthians 2: 9-11. Lastly, give God thanks. Thank Him for being in control, guiding you, forgiving you.
Study Luke 17:1-4, 23:32-47, and Ephesians 4:29:5:2. Are there any new insights for you in these passages?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you so much for your loving, kind, forgiving heart. I pray that we will also be the same way towards others as you have commanded us to be. I pray that we will not respond through emotions but through your love.
In Jesus Name
Amen
