Digging Deeper

The church is not just a building, programs, activities, and etc.  The body of christ are his followers together working for God.  It is not an easy task at hand because people are so different and at different stages in their walk with God.  Then we add in human pride , selfishness, and being offended.  People on the outside only see what they think they know, but in all reality, christians are humans just like them.  We can be hurtful to one another, however, as Christ followers we are called to be above such treatment.  Let’s Dig deeper today at some more verses on The church body.

Have you and your church ever evaluate yourselves as a group?  Read Phil. 2:14-16; 1 Peter 1:14-16; and Eph. 4:3.  From these commands how would you rate your church?

Now let’s look at Acts 6:1-7; Acts 11:1-18; Acts 13:1-3; and Acts 15:1-35.  What are some key things you can take away from each of these scriptures?  Did you notice that these verses show how different methods are used of arriving at a decision?

Do you believe God wants the body to come to one heart and one mind on His will for the Body?  Do you believe Go is able to bring His people  to understand His will?  Do you believe God is able to bring your church to unity?  Would you be willing to wait on God until He has had time to adjust the members of the body to His will?

The Holy Spirit is equipping each member to function as a body.  Read 1 Corinthians 12.  Look closely at verse 7.  Who does the Holy Spirit manifest Himself?  Why does the Holy Spirit manifest Himself to believers? We are blessed to be able to have the Holy Spirit manifest in all believers today then how it was done in the Old Testament.  Read Exodus Chapters 25-31.  Do you see the assignment God gave?  What was the gift?  The what was the proof?

Now let’s take a look at some more statements that we have heard within our church.  Have you heard someone say “I think I should be elected chairman of the deacons.  After all, I have been a faithful of this church for many years.”  This is a self centered comment.  We serve in the church by God assignment.  God chooses our function in the church.

Read Ephesians 4:31-32; 5:19-20; 5:21; Colossians 3:13-14.  What is God’s will in each of these passages?  What are some instructions you have found in these verses?
