The first woman created- Eve. She will forever be the woman first to sin, who ate the forbidden fruit. Eve was the final part of creation. Then God rested. Eve was made for Adam to be a companion. A helpmate. They were meant to complement one another where the other was weak. Their strengths complimented each other. Adam and Eve were both made to reflect the image of God. Our Creator.
Eve was created for a purpose, a unique and special role. Read Genesis 1. Look specifically at verses 26-28. What are three things mentioned that were God’s purposes for humankind?
- To be like Him
- To rule over creation.
- To reproduce
God didn’t just have a purpose for Adam and Eve. He has a purpose for all of His creation. Reread Genesis 1:28-31. What was God’s purpose for the rest of creation? Let’s continue with reading Genesis 2. In this chapter, we learn more specifics being given for humankind and Eve herself. Earth is to serve humankind. According to verses 18-22, what is God’s purpose for Eve?
Adam wasn’t complete without Eve. It was not good for Adam to be alone. He needed a helpmate. A helper that was suitable for him. From verses 22-24, what principles do we learn about marriage?
Do you ever wonder what it was like in the Garden of Eden? Was it a laid back life? How about walking amongst the animals? In Genesis 3, Eve is engaging in a conversation with the serpent. What do we learn about Satan? What is he like? What does he do?
Let’s compare Genesis 3:1-6 to 2 Corinthians 11:3; 2 Corinthians 11:12-15; and 1 Timothy 2:14. What do we learn about Satan’s activities? Satan deceives Eve. Satan and his workers operate through deceit and disguise. In fact, we learned that Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. When dealing with him, we have to be careful and not take anything at face value. In other words, we need to know the Word and pray for guidance from God. Satan got Eve to question the goodness of God and to disobey His command. When we choose not to trust God and His words, transgression is inevitable.
Continue tomorrow for more on Eve.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this time with you. I pray that I will learn all that I need to learn about Eve and learn from her mistakes. I pray that I will see you in a new light of your love and grace.
In Jesus Name
Amen
