Faith and Obedience

and was declared to be the son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace adn apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all nations.  Romans 1: 4-5

Let’s look at the phrase “Spirit of Holiness”!  This phrase is referring to the Holy Spirit.  The third person in the Trinity.  The Holy Spirit’s holiness seperates him from the spirit of humanity, sin, and the world.  It describes both his characteristic and his work.  Holiness is purity, perfection, completeness, and seperation from evil. The closer we are to the Holy Spirit by being obedience and faith to him the further we get away from sin and evil. The Holy Spirit’s power was and is in Jesus life.  It confirms his identy as God’s son, who came as the Christ.

The obedience of faith!  Paul describes this here in Romans.  Faith is obediece.  The nature of truth saving faith is a choice to follow Jesus Christ.  This is a personal relationship with Him.  We love him.   We are devoted to him.  We have gratitude.  We are obedient to him.

We are called to be holy.  We are called to be obedient to God.  Faith is not just believing in Christ, but it is an active resonse from our hearsts that truly desires to accept Christ as our savior.  It’s completely surrendering to God. Faith and obedience go hand in hand.  You can’t have one over the other.

Where is your faith and obedience at today?

Do you struggle with areas in your life that is not obedient to God?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your guidance.  I pray that we will choose daily to be obedient to you.  Help us to search ourselves and remove any sin and evil from our lives.  Holy Spirit help us to make the changes in our lives that need to be cleaned up and made holy.

In Jesus Name

Amen
