Faith When Terrified

Then Hezekiah, the king and Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, prayed because of this and cried to heaven.  And the Lord sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty warriors and commanders and officers in the camp of the King of Assyria.  So he returned with shame of face to his own land.   And when he came onto the house of his god, some of his own sons struck him down there with their swords.  So the Lord saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib king of Assyria and from the hand of all his enemies, and he provided for them on every side. And many brought gifts to the Lord to Jerusalem and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah, so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations from that time onward.  2 Chronicles 32:20-23

Sennacharib was a prideful man.  He put himself above God.  He thought he could defeat God’s people.  His words were said with the intent to scare God’s people from their hope in God.  When things looked scary, King Hezekiah and Isaiah prayed and cried to Heaven.  Just as Hezekiah and Isaiah go in prayer to God when in trouble, terrified, they prayed. This is what we should do also.  We engage God for us.  We encourage ourselves in Him.

We will all go through terrifying times.  People will try to scare us so that their purpose will be accomplished.  We need to remember that a Child of God, our heavenly father will protect us.  When our hearts are seeking him, and we are obeying God, we have his protection!

Their faith in God protected them.  When God’s enemies go after His children – The enemies better watch out!

Where is your faith in moving the impossible mountain of fear?

Do you pray when terrified?

When terrified can you trust God wholeheartedly or do you doubt?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for protecting your children.  I pray that when we go through terrify situations.  I pray that we will lean into you and trust you in those situations.

In Jesus Name

Amen
