Fear The Lord

If you will fear the Lord and serve him and obey his voice and not rebel against the commandment of the Lord, and if both you and the King who reigns over you, will follow the Lord your God, it will be well.  But if you will not obey the voice of the Lord, but rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then the hand of the Lord will be against you and your king.  1 Samual 12:14-15

Samuel is speaking here about God’s blessing and the welfare of the nation was not dependent on having a king. Their reverence is to God and their obedience to his word.

Samuel had the heart of a true prophet.  He pleaded with the Israelites to remain faithful to God.  He pleaded for them to stay obedient to his commands.  Samuel stayed faithful to God throughout his life.  He never turned away from his personal integrity, mission or message.

What an example to have written in God’s word.  A man who was faith had integrity and did what God asked him to do.  Samuel wanted the people to have that same thing.  To live a life that honored God. Have integrity.  Also to keep obeying God.  The Israelites had a roller coaster ride relationship with God.  They didn’t always stay the course.

Search deep in your own life; Do you struggle in your daily walk with God?

Do you fear the Lord?

Do you obey his voice?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your goodness.  I pray that we will not rebel against you but obey you and your word.  Help us to fear you.  Help us to walk daily in your presence.  Help us to obey your voice.

In Jesus Name

Amen
