And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, the priests in their vestments came forward with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with symbols, to praise the Lord, according to the directions of David King of Israel. And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the Lord, “for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever toward Israel.” And all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised the Lord, becasue the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.” Ezra 3:10-11
Have you ever had to build something from the ground up? All the work that goes into starting something new or reviving something old? Have you spent so many hours praying over it?
Wehn you have achieved the first level of completion, you know the foundation, did you take the time to thank God for that accomplishment?
The Israelites said a song of thanks/praise to God when they saw the foundation of the temple laid. This represented God’s answer to their prayers and God’s goodness to them. When our praise is true it honors our God and his work.
It’s great that we can stop and thank God along the journey. It’s honoring Him along the way. It helps us keep our eyes on God and remember it’s all because of him. When we accomplishment along the way, stop and sing praise and give thanks to our one true God. If God is laying something on your heart to start, keep praying and thank God along the way.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for you coming along with us and helping us fulfill your will. I thank you that we don’t have to do this life by ourselves. Thank you that your steadfast love endures forever.
