We have all sinned, therefore forgiveness is necessary. Our sin is a rebellion against God. He is offended by our sin. We have broken his law. We have ignored His standards and gone our own way.
Sin has destroyed man’s relationship with God. God is completely pure, perfect, complete and separate from evil. God is completely holy. God can not associate with evil, sin, wrong-doing, and rebellion. God’s judgement which is perfect requires that our sin be judged. Sin is so opposed to God that it needs an maximum penalty. This would be death and eternal separation from him.
Since God is merciful, he made a way so we would not be found guilty and sentenced to death. Thanks you, Jesus! Jesus was tortured, shed his blood, and died on the cross. Jesus took our place for once and for all. When we are willing to accept Jesus sacrifice and yield to him and his ways in our lives, God offers us forgiveness.
In order for God to forgive us, a blood sacrifice is required. This sacrifice had to be perfect in order for the forgiveness could be complete. Jesus is perfect and could be the only sacrifice for this forgiveness.
The Hebrew word for forgiveness is aphesis. This means a release from bondage or imprisonment. Forgiveness or pardon of sins; letting them go as if they never been committed. God has let our sin go as they have never happened. He is saving us form eternal punishment.
Forgiveness transforms a person. Renews them as a whole. It changes them. They we never be the same again.
In order for God to forgive and we receive it, we have to confess our sin and repent. We have to turn completely away. We have to surrender to Him. We must follow him completely and obey him. This process is a continuous process until we die or Jesus returns.
Do you want God to be ruler of your life?
Do you have sins to repent?
Would you like God’s forgiveness?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you again for all you do. Forgive me of my sins. I want to live a life surrendered to you. I want you to be Lord and savior of me life.
In Jesus Name
Amen
