My second son is getting married this year. There is a lot of planning going on. There is excitement! There is stress! However, on my part, there is peace with this union. I see God, working in both of these young people. They are getting ready both ceremonially and spiritually with all the feels. Let alone with there planning we are right in the middle of a pandemic of a virus. There are somethings that are on hold. Yet, they have the peace.
What are you doing to prepare yourself for when Jesus comes to get us, His bride? Are you preparing yourself? Do you think you are ready or is there still more things to do?
Why did Jesus die, and what is His objective for His bride, the church?
We, the bride – every true believer- is preparing to meet our bridegroom by becoming holy. What does holy mean though. The word holy means “set apart”. Personal holiness means to be seperated from sin and consecrated to God for His purposes and will. What are you doing in your life of getting ready for the wedding in your thinking and daily life? Even though we don’t know when Christ is coming for us, Scripture tells us how to live now in preparations for our wedding! 1 Peter 1:13-16 says, “Therefore preparing your minds for actions, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the greae that will brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
What are the instructions in this passage for us on being prepared? Why are we to be holy? How are we to show it?
Is this active or passage about being holy?
Read 1 Timothy 5:22, 1 Corinthians 15:34, 2 Timothy 2:19, Romans 12:9; and 2 Corinthians 7:1
What are some responsiblities we have when it comes to being holy?
God has commanded us to be holy. We should want to choose to be like Him daily and to prepare for Him to return. This is an active action not passive. IF you are a child of God, He has givien you His Holy Spirit to help you to achieve what he is asking of us on a daily process of sanctification. Do not be discourage in your daily walk to be holy. Read Phil. 2:13 and 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
How do these passages give you encouragement and hope in relations to the process of holiness?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your grace that gives us the desire to be holy. I pray that we will be obedient and do as you command in regards to holiness. I pray that we don’t get discourage when we fail, but find hope in you to continue to be holy as you are holy.
In Jesus Name
Amen
