Giving Thanks In All Circumstances

Give thanks in all circumstances,

for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.  1 Thessalonians 5:18

Is it easy for you to give thanks in all situations?

Is it hard for you to give thanks in all situations?

What does this mean exactly?  Are we to give thanks in just the good circumstances or also the bad circumstances??

What does the circumstance mean?  It means an event or condition connected with what is happening or has happened.

It is easy to thank God for all circumstances when life is going well.  It is easy to show gratitude to God and others when we have a roof over our heads, food on the table, clothes to wear, a car to drive, and friends and family to be with. However, it is not so easy to show God gratitude when life becomes a mess.  When all of a sudden a situation happens and life stinks.  It’s not easy to give thanks to God in the pain and suffering of bad circumstances.  It is in this place that it becomes easy to blame God.  It is even where we can get angry at God with what is going on in our life.

Have you ever showed God your gratitude in the trials and hardships of your life?  Given God thanks in the pain and hurt?  Can you stop and see how God’s hand is in control of the circumstance?  Can you show others how faithful God is in all circumstances of your life?  Do you pause to seek what God’s will is in the middle of the circumstance?  Do you seek Him to see what he wants you to learn in the middle of the circumstance?

When going through a hard circumstance in life, we still should give gratitude to God.  This is the will of God.  In all circumstances, give God thanks for what he is doing in the middle of the mess.  In the middle of the pain and hurt, thank him for being with you and not forsaking you.

eucharisteō means give thanks.  It is a greek word. It is to be grateful, to express gratitude (towards).  This has been a tough year. In the middle of all the chaos, find little things to be thankful for.

Are you ready to start showing gratitude to God in all circumstances?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Life can be so hard!  Today, though, Thank you that you are in control of all things.  Thank you that when we are in the middle of life’s big or small messes you, Lord, are with me.  You are so faithful when we are not always faithful to you.  Thank you for all you do.

In Jesus Name

Amen
