Have you ever thought about giving God thanks for choosing you? We ought too!! We should give him thanks because he chose us first. Then through salvation, we have the option to choose him back. We must accept His gift of salvation. although we have an option to refuse it. I don’t recommend that though!!
Paul is encouraging the Thessalonians that God chose them from the beginning. Sanctification is the process fo Christian growth through the Holy Spirit makes us like Jesus.
Paul is not saying that God has determined ahead of time who will be saved and those who will go to hell. This verse has to do with What God has determined will happen to those who willingly accept his invitation of salvation and follow Him.
The election of humans. God’s choice of those who accept Him through Christ by Faith is a foundational teaching of Paul. The election means God’s choice to claim for himself a people based on their choice to accept His forgiveness and yield their lives to Jesus. God chooses to accept those who willingly choose to accept Christ.
The election is Christ-centered. God chooses the people only as they identify with and living for Christ. Jesus is God’s chosen one. Next, Election is in him through his blood. God’s chosen people is only through the blood of Christ. God knew that we would defy him and go against him. God made a purpose for this reason to restore our relationship with him. Because of Christ’s sacrifice, we can choose to be reunited with God and become his elect people – His chosen people.
Have you given thanks to God for choosing YOU?
Have you really thought about that?
What is your choice for serving God? Are you choosing Him or not choosing Him?
Are you ready for the blessing or the consequence of those choices?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for loving your people. Thank you for choosing us first. Thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to help sanctify us like Jesus. I pray that each day that we breathe the air of earth, that we will choose you in our life.
In Jesus Name
Amen
