God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded. Genesis 8:1
God remembers! He knows all. How do you feel about these comments?
Read Genesis 8:1. Whom did God remember? What did he remember? Do you find this verse a little unsettling? I mean, God told Noah to build an ark, commanded all the animals to go on the ark, and then shut Noah, his family, and the animals all up on the ark and then proceeded to flood the world. Wouldn’t you hope he would remember you?
Read Isaiah 49:15-16. How serious is God’s assurance that we never leave His mind? What does it mean when He says he never forgets us? Remembering and forgetting are two different things. Let’s look at some scripture that introduces us to God’s memory.
Read Genesis 8:1. What does God remember? Then what did God do? What does God remember in Genesis 19: 29? Then what does God do? Turn to Genesis 30:22. What does God remember in this verse, and what does He do? Go to Exodus 6:5-6. What does God remember in these verses, and what does he do? Read Numbers 10:9. What does God remember, and what does he do here?
From these verses that you read, what can you conclude about what God remembers? These verses show God remembering an action or a promise of action. God never forgets His people, or should I say His children! When God remembers, His enemies better watch out because He goes into action!
Let go down our own life of remembering. Let’s still stay in the first fifth of our life!
During this time in your life, were you exposed to any religious education through church or school? Can you describe it in your view in retrospect?
Is there anyone outside your extended family that had the most influence on you spiritually during this time? Can you give as much detail as possible?
Are there any major or pivotal moments that occurred in this season of your life? How did they influence your life and the lives of close family members? Were there any relocation, divorce, remarriage, death, or any other event that was hard? Did you receive Christ as your savior in this season of your life? Record everything you can remember about that. Did God reveal Himself to you? Were there any life lessons to learn from?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for remembering us. Help us to see how you put action into us when you remember us.
In Jesus Name
Amen
