“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”
Ephesians 4:15-16 NIV
How do you hear God’s speak today?
The Holy Spirit speaks to us through God’s people which is the local church. Many Christians believe that they don’t need the church today or that they are accountable to the church. Yes, we have direct access to God. Jesus is our meditator to God. God created the church as His redemptive agent in the world. God has a purpose for His church. What is a church? It’s a body of believers. It is the body of Christ. Jesus is the head of the church. The Holy Spirit manifests Himself to every person for the common good. We are fitted together by God. We are enabled and equipped by the Holy Spirit to function where God wants us to. God made us to need one another.
Whay God is doing in and through the body is important to my knowing how to respond to God. In the church, we should let God use us in any way he chooses to complete His work in each member. Even if it’s an area we are not comfortable with. Let’s look at Paul. This was his goal. He said in Col. 1:28, “He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.”
Paul constantly asked pepper to partake in his life and ministry. The effectiveness of his ministry rested on the people’s being involved.
Leaning on one another helps us to know the will of God and where he is wanting us to participate in His work. It’s just not about you and God but also God and his church and where your fit on his plan.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your Holy Spirit. Thank you for your guidance. Thank you for the church, your body. God I pray that you will lead us to where you need is to be in your body. I pray that we won’t make excuses of what you are asking of each of us but to obey and rely on you and your strength.
In Jesus Name
Amen
