God spoke in the Old Testament many times and in various ways to His people. In the New Testament, He spoke through Jesus to His people in His lifetime. God speaks through the Holy Spirit when Jesus left the earth. The Holy Spirit speaks to us about all truth, recalls things to our memory, He will teach us all things. God has not changed. He still speaks to us today. If you are having trouble hearing God’s voice, check where your heart is.
Do you know when God speaks?
We can not understand the truth of God unless the Holy Spirit reveals it to us. He is the teacher. When He is teaching you the Word of God, sit before Him and respond to Him. Obey what He is saying. Be watching around you to see if He is working around you.
God speaks by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer, circumstances, church, other believers. He reveals Himself, His purpose, and His ways. There is no formula or method of knowing God’s voice. Knowing the voice of God comes from having an intimate relationship with Him. It requires you to spend time in His Word, prayer and being in His presence. If you don’t have an intimate personal relationship with him, you will not hear or know His voice. The way He will communicate with you will be unique to you. You will have to depend on him and him alone. Your relationship with God will need to be of the utmost importance in your life.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I pray that for each of us that our relationship with you will be the most important thing we invest our time in. God, we want to know your voice. Thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to us.
