Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation. Psalm 68:5
What kind of earthly father do you have?
Is he a good one? Did he meet your needs? or did he abandon you?
Our Triune God is a great father to all of us. However, God delightsin the weak, disadvantaged, oppressed, hurting, and the lonely, particularly those who trust him. The Old Testament and the New Testament both speak about God’s fatherhood.
This verse is saying that He will be the father to those who don’t have a father. God is a good, good father. He is always taking care of his children’s needs. When children are orphaned, he will take care of them. This is one area where we see God’s greatness, his majesty, his power in this world He made. God is a father. His is to be loved and feared.
In a spiritual sense of things, those who are desert by friends or called to leave their parents for the call of Christ and his gospel, are like the fatherless one. They are in a helpness condition in themselves. In these situations they are lonely and afraid and hurting. He is a father to those who truest in him and need him; depends on him.
Psalm 103:14 says, “For he knows our frame;he remembers that we are dust.” This verse is saying that God know us. He knows our weaknesses and frailities. God has a deep compassion for his children when they fail, suffer, or are mistreated. He hurts when His children hurt. when we are going through hard times, we have to remember that God is with us. He is not distant or uncaring.
If fact, God is in our midst, He will save us. He rejoices over us and he will quiet us with his love, He rejoices over us with singing.
We are not alone when we are a child of God. He is with us. Accept Jesus as our Lord and savior and become a child of God.
Zephaniah 3:17 : ‘The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He wil rejoice over you with gladness, he will quiet you with HIs love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for being our heavenly father. One who loves and cares for us. Thank you for knowing all about us and still loving us. I pray that we will trust you will every area of our lives.
