God’s Gift of Peace

For unto us a child is born, to us A son is given and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called wonderful Counselor, mighty God, everlasting father, Prince of peace.  Isaiah 9:6

Do you have a nickname? Or special names you are called? Jesus has many names he was called. His first special name was called wonderful Counselor, mighty God, eternal father, Prince of peace. Does any of these names resonates with you?

In all honesty, they all mean a lot to me. For today though I want to focus on the name prince of peace. Jesus is the prince of peace. When he was born he brought peace with him to earth. In  John 14:27, it says, “Peace,  I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be trouble and do not be afraid.”  Jesus gave his disciples a gift. What was that gift? Yes! His peace. We don’t have to hope for or try to attain it. It is a gift to us.

Jesus this piece it’s not like the world’s peace. What is the world peace? It passes piece off in substances such as do it yourself, remedies, material possessions, fleeting pleasures, and empty promises. As you may have seen or even experienced these are cheap substitutes for the real peace. Jesus provided us his peace. Jesus made it clear that since he has given us his peace, we don’t have to let our hearts be full of fear, confusion, and/or chaos.  We can hold onto his gift of peace.

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. 2 Thessalonians 3:16

Have you received God’s gift of peace?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your gift of peace!  Thank you that it is with us all the time and every where we go!  I pray that we will seek you daily!

In Jesus Name

Amen
