God’s Glory And Obedience

Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring Me an offering. From everyone who gives it willingly with his heart, you shall take My offering. And this is the offering which you shall take from them: gold, silver, and bronze;  blue, purple, and scarlet thread, fine linen, and goats hair;  ram skins dyed red, badger skins, and acacia wood; oil for the light, and spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense; onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod and in the breastplate.  And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.  According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it. Exodus 25:1-9

Do you have a hard time obeying?  Specifically God?  The Word of God has many examples of people who obeyed and disobeyed him.  God gave Moses a project, in a matter of fact, it was a huge project.  God asked Moses to build a tabernacle.  God designed this portable structure.  It would become the centerpiece of Israel’s culture and worship for centuries to come.  God gave Moses a detailed blueprint.  Also, God gave him precise instructions on the construction of this project.  Moses was the foreman over everyone to make sure that everything was done exactly as God had instructed. Read Exodus 39-40 on the building of the tabernacle and as you do highlight this phrase, “as the Lord commanded Moses” or “According to all that the Lord had commanded Moses”.  Why do you God repeat this phrase so many times?  What does this tell you about Moses and the Israelites?

This building project took months of work and cooperation from everyone.  When it was finished God ‘s glory filled the tabernacle.  Exodus 40:33-34 says, “So Moses finished the work.  Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.  What came first obedience or God’s glory filling the tabernacle?  What is the significance of the order of events?

After months of obedience, God’s glory filled the tabernacle.  God manifested himself where His children were obedient and faithful to him.  Does this still apply to us today?  Do we still have to completely obey God if we desire to have God’s glory fill us?  Since God is the same yesterday and today, then yes we have to choose to completely obey God and his ways.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your glory and for blessing us.  I pray we will choose to obey you in all things.  When you give precise instructions I pray that we will listen and completely obey.  Help us to know who you are and what to know you and your glory.

In Jesus Name

Amen
