God’s Grace Offers Salvation: Part 2

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.  Titus 2:11

Read Titus 2: 11-14

Grace is the free, kind, and generous way God relates to people.  Paul speaks of grace as if it was a human – a teacher from God.  The foundation of Titus 2 is found in verses 11-14.  The behavior Paul encourages the five groups is to respond to the grace of God that has appeared and taught us.

What were we like when grace found us?  Grace alone brings God’s offer of salvation to all.  God’s grace is for all people.  The powerful grace that took us by the hand forgave our sins and led us away from the foolishness, disobedience, and slavery of sin.  Sin separates people from God.  Some ignore God and pursue whatever attracts them.  People are trying to figure out what it is that they want.  They might not realize that it is a spiritual connection to God they are seeking, but try to find it in other places other than going directly to God. People try so hard to please God with their efforts.  We can’t atone for our sins alone.  We have to depend on God; only He can atone for our sins.  Only then will we have peace.

God has built the only bridge between heaven and earth.  God saw the problem, loved us, and provided a solution.  Our debt is too significant to pay.  He paid for it for us.  Through His grace, God offers us forgiveness and deliverance from sin.  Grace is the undeserved kindness, love, mercy, and favor God extends to us in Jesus Christ.  We are/ or were in the dark, without hope and God in the world (Eph. 2:12).  Then like a light in a gloomy night, God’s grace appeared.  Just like the sun shines all of man, so does God’s grace.

Is salvation by grace and works? Salvation is by grace from start to finish.  It is all by grace or not at all.   God sits on the throne of grace.  He offers the gospel of grace through the Spirit of grace.  We don’t deserve God’s grace.  God didn’t save us for anything that we have done.  He did it out of His love for us.  The obedience and good deeds are our response of faith and devotion to the relationship God freely offers to us.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your grace.  We don’t deserve it, yet you love us so much that you give it to us.  I pray that we will obey and love you and work on having a relationship that honors you.

In Jesus Name

Amen
