God’s Kingdom

My thoughts are not your thoughts neither are your ways my ways’ declares the Lord.  ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’ Isa 55:8-9

How often do you think you know what is going to happen our way?  How often do you get shocked that what happens has nothing to do with you way?

When God speaks to us through the Holy Spirit, he reveals Himself, His purpose, and His ways to us.  Citizens of God’s Kingdom function to accomplish God’s purposes in His kingdom ways is not human ways.  The principles of the Kingdom and the world are very different. Jesus said that His kingdom is not of this world.  If it was his servants would fight to prevent his arrest by the Jews (John 18:36).  Citizens or servants in God’s Kingdom do not function the way the world expects.  In Colossians 2:8, Paul cautions the Colosse, to see to it that no one takes you captive through  hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.

How will you be able to accomplish God’s kingdom purpose?  We can only do accomplish his work by following His ways.  Our humans ways will not bring lasting spiritual fruit.  The Holy Spirit will lead us to the truth.  Spiritual Truth is to just a concept to be thought about, debated, or discussed.  Remember Truth is a person.  We need to obey His truth.

In the New Testament, Jesus told my parables about the kingdom.  Let’s take a look at the parable of the wheat and weeds.  Read Matt 13:24-30, 36-43.   Let’s do a little interpretation.  Who is the One who sowed good seed?  Is sons of the kingdom.  The Good seed is the Son of man.  The field is the world.  The One who sowed seeds is the devil.  The weeds are are sons of the evil one.  The harvest is the end of the age and the harvesters are the angels.  This parables shows how the lost and the evil people are mixed with true believers.  Only God can judge our relationship with him.  He will weed out the unbelievers.  Another parable is the Mustard seed.  Read Matthew 13: 31-32.  When we feel small and insignificant, we can find hope in the mustard seed parable.  God can take something a small as a mustard seed and produce it to something large and helpful.  God can make us into anything he wants as long as we are obedient and faithful.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your kingdom ways.  I pray that we will learn about your ways and not dwell on our human ways.  I pray that we will learn from your parables about your kingdom.  I pray that we will obey and be faithful to you.

In Jesus Name

Amen
