Grace and Truth

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. John *testified about Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’ For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.  John 1:14 – 18

Grace!   A wonderful thing for God to give to us.  He keeps giving grace to us over and over. It seems to never end.  Grace is constantly providing  the benefits of God’s presence and power to us His followers.  God gives his Favor to us by exerting his holy influence upon us, our souls.  He turns us to Christ.  This grace keeps, strengthens, and increases us to our Christian Faith, knowledge, and affection towards God.  It kindles us to exercise our christian virtues.

Let’s look at full.  Full means lacking nothing.  It is perfect.  It fills the hollow vessels and fills our souls.  Grace covers every part of us.  Grace completes us. Grace lacks nothing.  Grace is perfect.  Grace fills the hollow vessels of our life.  Grace fills our soul.

Along with grace we are full of truth.  Objectively,  universally, what is true in any matter under consideration (opposed to what is feigned, fictitious, false.  Man likes to twist things to make it work for his situation.  Gentiles, in the day, were superstitious.  Today people still believe in the lies of superstition.   They can base their decisions off of those superstitions.  The Jews invent laws of how we should live for God, when God already has the plan.  Then we have the false teachers that speak corrupt opinions and false precepts.  This can even be among the christians.  Truth is what the gospel presents.  Truth is respecting God and his purposes through Christ.

Let’s go back to the word full.  Full in truth is lacking in nothing.  It is perfect.  Truth fills the hollow vessels and fills our soul with truth.  Truth covers every part of us.  Truth completes us.

Our Heavenly Father is full of grace and truth.  When we follow him and serve him he extends that to us.  He extends it to us through Jesus Christ.

Do you realize how often God gives grace out to you?

Do you believe Jesus to be the truth?

Do you understand the fullness of grace and truth?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your full offer of grace.  For you full abundance of grace upon grace.  Helps us to discern what is truth and what are lies.
