So far how have you dealt with what God has been asking you to change? Are you struggling with any of these changes? Here are a few questions to help!
I really want to obey God, but it’s to hard!
I’m afraid to do what I know I need to do!
I know what God wants me to do, I don’t have the desire to do it!
I will never measure up to what I should be!
I’ve got to work harder at getting my act together so I can be more godly!
Have any of these thoughts come across? Don’t worry, you are in good company. Guess what!! God’s grace will meet us where we are at. He can meet each of these needs.
Psalm 86:1-7
Incline your ear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. Preserve my life, for I am godly; save your servant, who trusts in you – you are my God. Be gracious to me, O Lord, for to you do I cry all the day. Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who all upon you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace. In the day of my trouble I call upon you, for you answer me.
David was a man who was desperately aware for his need for God’s grace. He wasn’t afraid to ask for it either. Highlight each phrase that refers to asking God for helpin yellow in your bible. Also, highlight in blue how God responds when His children call on Him.
Now how does calling upon God express our humility? Does this psalm give you assurance that God’s grace is available to your needs?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your grace. I pray that we will call out to you like David cried out to you for your grace. I pray that we will not run from you and your grace. I pray that we will understand that with your grace and help we can face any demand in our life.
In Jesus Name
Amen
