Healing The Blind Man: Part Two

As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth.  And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”  Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him.  We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.  As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” John 9:1-5
Difficult situations can seem like we have a dark cloud hanging around us.  However, what could happen if we let the light of the world shine a more positive light on the dark times?  Are we willing to trust God and His ways?  Are we willing to see how he is powerful and the darkness isn’t always a punishment of sin?
Read John 9:1-12 again.  Now let’s put ourselves in the shoes of this blind man.  He has to rely on secondhand information for everything.  People have to describe the scenario, sight, or experience to him.  This is even if the people would help him in this area.  This is a different way of experience life then if he could see things with his own eyes.  We can also be spiritually blind and only see darkness.  This is how the Pharisees were.  They knew what the old testament prophesies were about the Messiah.  However, when Jesus came into the scene and were right in front of them, they could not see that HE was the one.  They knew all the right answers, but they didn’t’ make the right choice.
Do you know someone like that in your life?  How about this tendency in your own life?
Jesus took the time to stop and talk with the blind man and give him instructions on what to do to be healed.  The blind man was not healed right there, however, he obeyed.  Don’t overlook this.  In fact, let’s say it again:  He obeyed.  The blind man obeyed Jesus.  Jesus is the LIGHT.  He wants to heal us.  This means that on our part we have to be willing to take a step of obedience.
Is there any situation in your life that you know that God is asking you to obey?  What actions do you need to take?  Have you followed through?
Do you want spiritual sight?  I know I do.  I want to be able to see how God wants to handle the difficult situation in my life verses me being blind.  I want to see God and his powerful ways.  I want to know His truth.  This requires me to spend time at His feet, to read his word, and to ask and to listen.  We must do this regularly.
So happened to the blind man?  Let’s find out tomorrow!!!
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your light in this dark dark world.  I pray that we will seek you and your ways.  To know your truth amongst all the lies.  God, I pray that you will open our eyes to your light.
In Jesus Name
Amen
