Helping One Another

“It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be  built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attain to the whole measure of he fullness of Christ. ”  Ephesians 4:11-13

How do you feel about helping others?  Do you have the attitude of helping and never expect anything back in return or do you only help those who also help you when you need the help?  Is there others ways we are called to help each other?

Christians are called to help one another.  We cannot do this walk alone.  God gave each of us gifts to help edify and grow in our walk with God.  God places us into a church.  A church forms the body of Christ.  This is an area where we get to experience God.  Otherwise, we will miss out on experience God in this way.  Christ dwells in every believers and believers are in Christ.  Look up these passages: John 17:23,26; Col. 1:27; John 17:21 and 2 Cor. 5:17.  Because God is in every believer we can experience God as he works in and through other believers.

When we do not have fellowship with other believers, we do not have access to all the parts of the body that helps us to become a complete person.  God chooses who he will speak through and this is one reason why we need each other.  Fellowship with the body of Christ is an important way for us to fellowship with God.

We help each other disciple one another.  We help each other grow closer to God and to help deny sin and disobedience in our lives.  We lean on one another for prayer.  When we are discouraged, others encourage us to keep going.  Watching others build their relationship with God motivates us to build a closer relationship with God.  We can learn how to live the best christian life as possible.   We can help each other worship and obey.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for forming the body of Christ called the church.  I pray that we will love one another, and grow together in you.  I pray that we will have unity and help build each other up.  I pray that if we get hurt amongst believers that you heal their brokenness but also reveal what you need to reveal to that person. Help us to not be so offended by things but to seek out your will.

In Jesus Name

Amen
