Hope and Love – part 3

And endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Another spiritual blessing is hope!  In today’s society Hope is to have wishful thinking on something that might happen. However, the biblical meaning is not wishful thinking but having confidence in God concerning his promises. This makes it sure and leaves no room for doubt because it is based on God’s word.  We will experience this hope because God is “the God of Hope”. This means that he himself is the object and assurance of our hope.

Then we have God’s love that has been poured into our hearts.   Christians experience God’s love through the Holy Spirit , just not only in the good times but also during the hard times.   The word “poured” is used in the tense verb. It expresses an existing condition based on a prior action.  We have to receive God’s love, then the Holy Spirit continues to flood our hearts with love. This is the ever present experience of God’s love that encourages and holds us secure in our hard times. It assures is that our hope for the future glory is not a wishful thing. Christ return is a certain.

Have you repented of your sins?

Do you still feel the shame of them?

Do you know where the lie is coming from?

Do you have your hope based on biblical truth?

Do you believe how much God loves you and that he pours that love into you?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for you hope!  Thank you for not putting us to shame.   I pray that we will have hope in you.  Thank you for your pouring out of love to us.

In Jesus Name

Amen
