But emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Philippians 2:7-8
We can learn a lot from Jesus. He is a servant and humble. He humbled himself and came to earth as a man. He was humble by becoming obedient to God. Jesus was so obedient that he died on the cross for us. He laid aside the privilege of his limitless existence as God. When he emptied himself, he took on human suffering, misunderstanding, mistreatment, hatred, and the curse of death on the cross. While walking on this earth he was a servant to people. Do you struggle with being humble or being a servant? I think if we are honest with ourselves, we all struggle with one of these or with both. I think I struggle with both, but more with the humbleness. Pray against pride. Humble yourself as Jesus did. Be the servant in your church, home, community, that no ones wants to be and just shine Jesus in humbleness and humility.
Dear Jesus
Thank you for your servanthood and your humbleness. I pray that we will be honest with ourselves and learn from you. Learn how to be a servant. Not just to others, but for you. Speak to us when we need to be humble. Amen.
