Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17
Do you want to live your life believing God?
Faith pleases God. It invites incomparable divine intervention in our lives. How do we believe God? Or a better question would be, “How do we get it?”
We can’t pretend our faith. We have to receive it from Him to offer it back. Our initial faith to believe Christ for salvation comes from the work and conviction of the Holy Spirit. In the following scripture, we will discover how to receive faith to practice more of our faith.
Read Galatians 5:22-23. What is the 9 fruit of the Holy Spirit? Faith is a part of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. As believers in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us when we accept Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. He brings His personality with Him. As we yield to the Holy Spirit’s authority, His personality fills us and eclipse our own. When we do not yield to the Holy Spirit, we will grieve Him and rely on our own flesh, our old nature. The Holy Spirit believes God. When He fills us, our flesh will yield to Him, and we will get to press into His belief and work on our faith through Him.
If you have time, do a word study on Faith and Faithfulness. Are they the same, or are they different but tie in together?
Let’s look at the next means of receiving faith. Read Romans 10:17. What does this mean of gaining more faith? We do this by hearing the word of God. Our faith comes through hearing the Word of God. This is a part of building/growing our relationship with God. We have to be in His Word. When we are committed to exposing ourselves to God’s word through sermons, teachings, lessons, devotionals, and bible studies, we are adding fuel we will add to the fire of our faith.
Read Romans 10: 17. What does the word “Word” mean here in this passage?
Read Luke 17:1-6. What was the request the apostles made of Jesus?
We can ask Jesus Christ to increase our faith. We can ask for our faith to be increased. Sometimes in doing God’s will, we need our faith to be increased. We can confess our unbelief to Jesus and request His help to overcome it. Jesus never rejects us when we come before Him with our honesty, and He will empower us to overcome it. Last, as we walk with God, our faith will grow. It will mature and develop into what God wants for us.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for supplying us with the fruit of the Holy Spirit – faith. I pray that we will keep growing more and more in our faith in you.
In Jesus Name
Amen
