Humbling Ourselves

Is being humble into days world easy or hard?  Is it popular or unpopular in our society?

Humility is the first step towards God.  Are you wondering how we do this? Lets go to the book of Isaiah 6:1-7- “In the yea that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple.  Above him stood the saraphim.  Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, ad with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.  And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” And the foundation of the threshold shook at the voice of the Lord of Hosts!”  Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken the tongs from the alter.  And he touch my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips, your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”

There are a number of events that happen in these verses.  Isaiah saw the Lord in His holiness and majesty, confessed his sins.  Then God forgave and cleansed Isaiah and Isaiah recognized the depth of his own sinfulness and was overwhelmed. Think about this Isaiah saw the Lord in His holiness and majesty – What happened?  Isaiah was aware of God’s holiness and an it made him ackowledge his sin and repent of it.  This is what happens when we are aware of God’s holiness.

Isaiah’s own personal revival happens in a vision of Go in the temple.  He was brought to an awareness of God’s hollinesss and the recognized the depth of his sinfullness.  We, too, can do the same thing.  We can be aware of God’s holiness and repent and be forgiven of our sins.  Isaiah was broken about his sin, we can also have a broken and contrite heart towards God and be humble before him.  God will respond to our humbleness and forgive us.

Have you been or are aware of God’s holiness?  Are we willing to go before God with humility?

Dear Heavenly father,

Thank you for this glorious day.  I pray that we will be aware of your holiness and your majesty.  I pray that we will acknowledge our sin and humbly repent of our sins.

In Jesus Name

Amen
